Ahmadinejad’s new album Released: “Provincial Trips …”

Ahmadinejad's New Album

I haven’t set up my blog in Persian yet so I have to post the picture here in my English one. 40% of my site visitors are from Iran and many others from other countries are also Iranians, so I assume at least 50% of visitors understand the writings on the picture. But sorry to those who can’t read Persian.

The picture’s point is that it’s a book’s cover-page about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s provincial visits; but it looks more like a music album cover. Especially with those titles at the right hand, e.g. “Rain’s Ambassador”, “Rain”, “Soft like Breeze”, “Sea Heart”, etc. Interesting that Hugo Chavez officially released his very own album about a month ago!

Marjan Satrapi, not Marjaneh

Posted in Movies, Iran, France, Art by Ali on the May 27th, 2007

People, it’s not Marjaneh Satrapi, but Marjan Satrapi. I wonder why everybody is typing and pronouncing her name incorrectly, especially Iranians.

The reason she has an “e” at the end of her first name is that because she lives in France, and in French last letters usually get ignored if there is not an “e” after it. For example, Peugeot which is pronounced Peugo, or Renault: Reno, Paris: Paghi, etc. So Marjan Satrapi has added that “e” to the end of her name so French people will pronounce her name correctly MarjaN, not Marja! OK?

Iran’s Police using Comic Strip

Posted in Iran, Middle East, Art, Culture by Ali on the May 11th, 2007

It is interesting to know that Iran’s Police is going to use Comic Strip to direct the Iranian local youth to the right way. As I have read and heard these cartoons are going to be mainly used in girls’ schools.

There are many posters, but these are the only ones I have found so far:

Iran Police Comic about Alocohol wasting time on internet

not partying drugs

:: click on any picture to enlarge ::

The cartoons are mainly about preventing drug and alcohol usage, misusing computers and the Internet, not taking part in parties where ecstacy (x-party) or other drugs are used, etc.
It is not the first time using this method of cartoons for this purposes, but as far as I am aware, it is the first time drawing girls with this sort of ornaments.
