Today I was invited by a friend of mine to his daughter’s 1st Birthday party. Everything was good and we all enjoyed our Sunday together. But I also realised that…

…today, 28th October is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Bill Gates and Julia Roberts‘ Birthday too!

Marjan Satrapi, not Marjaneh

Posted by Ali Sanaei under Art, France, Iran, Movies

People, it’s not Marjaneh Satrapi, but Marjan Satrapi. I wonder why everybody is typing and pronouncing her name incorrectly, especially Iranians.

The reason she has an “e” at the end of her first name is that because she lives in France, and in French last letters usually get ignored if there is not an “e” after it. For example, Peugeot which is pronounced Peugo, or Renault: Reno, Paris: Paghi, etc. So Marjan Satrapi has added that “e” to the end of her name so French people will pronounce her name correctly MarjaN, not Marja! OK?

Sylvester Stallone’s “John Rambo”

Posted by Ali Sanaei under Central Asia, Movies, USA, War and Military

John Rambo

3 minutes and 29 seconds is the premiere footage of the movie John Rambo so far released. The movie is no way PG-13. Just check out how Rambo takes out the guy’s throat, or how cuts another’s stomach, and see when he says: When pushes, killing is as easy as breathing!. So the clip here is a little gory so skip it if you’re squeamish.

:: if you have difficulities watching the above; try mirror 1, or mirror 2 ::

John from Op-For makes an interesting point when he asks how could Rambo fight Al-Qaeda when he was fighting alongside them in Rambo III?

The Aussie Prince of Persia

Posted by Ali Sanaei under Computer Software, Iran, Movies

Charlie Clausen

Its official now that the 19 year old Australian actor, Charlie Clausen is casted for the role of the Prince in the movie “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time”. The highly anticipated movie will hit the cinemas in December 2008.

I think Charlie Clausen could look Persian (Iranian).

Price of Persia Game
I have absolutely Zero faith in any video game to movie adaptations. Having said that, the one game franchise that I think it might have a chance at being half decent is Prince Of Persia. Not because it’s a better game than any other the others… but because it has a much richer story line, history and plot depth than any other game (which isn’t all that important when it comes to games… but it is important when thinking about making it into a movie).

Definition for Disnefication

Posted by Ali Sanaei under Movies, Politics, USA

I posted a cartoon few days ago on my blog, using the word: Disnefication (Disneyfication). I received few comments and emails asking me what this means.

Disney International

Well, let’s define it then:
Disnefication is the process of the Walt Disney corporation (generally Hollywood’s sub companies), taking an event from actual world history or a traditional stories, and altering it to the point where it becomes a harmless movie, specialised for making more money, or most of the times for political and cultural purposes to attack another country, religion or culture.

Disnefication

Well, the movie 300 is a good example of it. Anastasia, Sleeping beauty, Prince of the Persia, Robin Hood, Balto, etc. and etc. They have absolutely raped the history on these movies!
